History
With an unsophisticated beginning in 1979, our founder, Steve Shortess, started ADVANCED with minimal resources and the dream of becoming an independent business owner. The journey began with $5000 worth of inventory, a small delivery truck, an uninsulated office area in the family’s two-car garage and a rotary phone. The application of industrial plastics in the aerospace and oil & gas industries rapidly grew in the early years. ADVANCED started as a raw material supplier, but soon markets began requiring more value added services. These requirements moved ADVANCED to add precision machining services to meet the markets’ needs.
ADVANCED’s technology began with manual equipment, entry level NC machinery, and Radio Shack TRS-80 computers. Almost 40 years ago, that equipment was cutting edge and that same vision and determination to implement advanced manufacturing and business technologies still holds true today. We are entering our fourth decade as a precision component contract manufacturer and distributor of industrial plastic raw materials. Manufacturing technologies, business systems, and markets have taken a quantum leap from our beginning, and we are aware this will always be part of our journey.
ADVANCED principles will remain steadfast as we move forward into the future. Our faith in God, our ability to build lasting partnerships, our willingness to apply new technologies, our versatility of competencies and our desire to gain more knowledge will continue to differentiate ADVANCED from the competition.
